"TRANSFORMING HEALTHCARE THROUGH IT" The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society is a "cause-based, not-for-profit organization exclusively focused on providing global leadership for the optimal use of information technology (IT) and management systems for the betterment of healthcare" representing over 30,000 individual members. HIMSS currently supports a single professional certification program (CPHIMS - Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems). A second, entry-level certification program (CSHIMS - Certified Specialist in Healthcare Information and Management Systems) is currently under development but is not expected to launch before 2012. HIMSS members have the opportunity to be recognized for their dedication to the society and the industry by applying for Senior Member or Fellow status within the organization. |
